Drumming

I have played the drums since I was 13 years old, and have been playing in church since 1986. See my page on drumming here

Acoustics

When I have the time, I study the fascinating science of room acoustics. This all started when we needed to build new audio control room at church. After some initial investigation, it became apparent that we would need to put a lot of careful thought into the design of the control room in order to obtain the correct acoustic environment. The results of my studies are some Excel spreadsheets that can be used to predict the basic acoustic properties of a rectilinear room, and predict the absorption curve of various designs of porous absorber. You can see my acoustics page by clicking here.

Erlang

I have just started learning a programming language called Erlang. This language was developed by Ericson in the mid eighties originally to run telephone exchanges; but since it is designed to handle massive levels of process concurrency, I think it will also become a very useful business language. Here's what I've learnt about Erlang so far.

Church

I have attended Trinity Church since 1984. Based in Brentwood, England. This truly unique church demonstrates that when preached with bold clarity and simplicity, the Christian Gospel provides a solid foundation for the whole sphere of human activity.

My Grandfather - A WW1 Flying Ace

My grandfather (paternal) was decorated three times for his actions over France and Belgium in Sopwith Pups and Camels during WW1. His legacy is recorded here, and when time allows (which it does not at the moment), I will assemble into web form, all the correspondence and photographs that my Uncle has painstakingly assembled from the family archives. I am proud to think that my Grandfather left such a legacy.

My Parents-in-law's 46th Wedding anniversary

My parents-in-law recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. The pictures of that event are here.

The voice of ignorance speaks loud and long,
but the words of the wise are quiet and few.
